North Park Neighborhood Blog

Locals talk about North Park from their perspectives

Greetings and welcome to the new blog. I'm Mike, a thirtysomething, burly, single gay guy living in the area known as "Between Heights." I spend a lot of time in Normal Heights, North Park and Hillcrest.

I'm a California native, but a San Diego transplant. I've lived in "The 619" for five years now, and I love it here. I may be a nomad at heart, but San Diego is the one place that feels like home to me.

Somehow I drew the straw to write the first blog post.  I guess technically it's the second post, but who's counting?  I got the link about being a "blogger" last month and figured this might be fun.  I can say whatever I want, no one knows where to throw the rotten eggs...its perfect.  I have a blog topic to write about, but before I get there, I was asked to provide some basic information.  So here it is:

1.  On the right side of the screen there will be a list of all the posts by month and year (I think).  You can separate by blogger (there are five of us) or just check out a topic.

2.  There's a "blogroll" over there too (or will be soon).  Which is like the cast.  There are little bios about us over there so hopefully people will share about themselves, too.

3.  I'm a Capricorn and like to take long walks in the park (this part is a joke)

With the intro stuff out of the way, I want to get to my first post.  Living in this town, it's surprising how much of what goes on is about politics and not about prosperity.

Hi.  Thanks for stopping by and welcome to My North Park blog.  The NPCA is committed to connecting neighbors and friends and people who generally like being in and around North Park--so we decided to start a blog.   I think you'll like our original cast of contributors.  The first blog post will go up in about a week.

Here's the deal, the blog brings together five different personalities, each distinctly representative of aspects of North Park:  young families, hip empty nesters, working professionals, and a few folks heavily into the varied arts, restaurants, bars and culture that North Park has to offer.
